The Candidates
Kristi Bidinger
Kimberly Calcote
Our Endorsement
Kristi Bidinger
WCS / Brentwood High School parent Kristi Bidinger has actively involved in the work of the Board since she first ran in 2022, losing to longtime incumbent Jay Galbreath who chose not to run again in 2026, leaving the District 6 seat up for grabs.
She's proven her commitment to this work over the past 4 years, regularly attending meetings, following issues and keeping her community informed by sending out detailed email newsletters and social media updates more than most actual WCSB members - many do zero community communication despite one of their 4 policy-mandated roles being "The Board shall keep the local community informed about the school system, its accomplishments, and its actions."
Kristi's campaign quote we'd selected to highlight from 2022 stands just as true today:
"Why invite political division into a work whose sole purpose is to focus on our children's education, budgets, growth, and policy. School boards are a great place to show our children that the government can and does good work for the community."

Kimberly Calcote - Moms for Liberty

If you google Moms for Liberty, odds are you'll come across their protest against a 1st grade book on seahorses because it said that the males are the ones who carry and birth seahorse babies.
That happened right here in Williamson County.
Kimberly Calcote is a charter school political activist and the Moms for Liberty member who spoke up about the seahorse book during their coordinated Public Comment series asking for books to be removed from WCS. Other children's books under protest by their group: "Martin Luther King Jr. and the March on Washington," "Ruby Bridges Goes to School," and "The Story of Ruby Bridges."
As far as we can tell, Calcote is not and has not been a WCS parent for many years despite vague language on her campaign website saying her children "have" attended WCS schools.
Please click to view the seahorse clip and then continuing reading below about her vocal involvement in pushing for charter schools in Williamson County.
Calcote is seen seated in her Moms for Liberty photo in this 2021 national PBS article on Moms for Liberty:

Some of her defenders are out there saying she's distanced herself from Moms for Liberty since 2021/2022. It's hard to believe when the Williamson County Republican Party is still proudly touting their partnership with Moms for Liberty, recently promoting a co-hosted April 2026 School Board candidate forum (that they had to cancel for unpublicized reasons.)
Calcote accepted a $1,000 donation from the WCRP on 6/29/2026 per her 7/1/26 public finance filing disclosure.

Calcote is also an active lobbyist for charter schools and was a notable part of the Hillsdale-affiliated charter school push for two schools here in Williamson County, which would have been taxpayer funded.
Charter applications in Tennessee’s suburbs find new appeal as part of culture shift in education debate
“Some parents who live in districts where there are applications for Hillsdale’s charters disagree.
"Our family feels that the addition of USA Classical Academy will continue to enrich our already high performing county and continue to draw families from all over to be a part of such a robust school district,” Williamson County parent Kimberly Calcote wrote in a letter of support for the Hillsdale affiliated charter application in Williamson County, called USA Classical Academy.
…..
In many ways, Williamson County has been a ground zero for the new charter applications.
Its school district has been a battleground over Wit & Wisdom, Williamson County Schools' elementary English language arts curriculum that just underwent a high-profile review after formal complaints about the literature it uses. The district removed one book from the curriculum.
Nine people — including Calcote — appealed the committee's ultimate decision, arguing it wasn’t stringent enough.
Calcote’s opposition to Wit & Wisdom, and her support for USA Classical Academy, are no coincidence. With USA Classical's proposed curriculum she feels as though she won’t need to be “on guard about,” Calcote said in an interview.
"This style of education has consistently produced well rounded and well-educated members of our society, which, I hope, is always our end goal in education," Calcote wrote in her letter of support for USA Classical’s application.“

Unfortunately there's more. Hang in there, you're almost done...
If it's not entire clear by now, Calcote is highly involved in the growing partisan divide here in Tennessee and it sure doesn't seem like she's interested in representing all families who live here.
She's a member of and writer for the Tennessee Star, a far-far-right website/outlet.
We really hate to give them clicks and links but she's penned multiple articles supporting ending the Constitutional right for birthright citizenship....which is notable as it's supporting a bill pledge by Lee Reeves, husband of Claire Reeves....who's current sitting on the Williamson County School Board.
If you brave a visit to their website, just search "Calcote" and you'll see her articles.
